Project Brief

Jagawana is an IoT-based early warning system our team engineered to proactively combat the threat of devastating forest fires. As one of three IoT engineers on the project (shoutout to Tiara and Afkaar), I am responsible for co-developing the functional prototype, which uses an enhanced Indonesia Fire Danger Rating System (Ina-FDRS) to assess forest fire risks. Our system's architecture features autonomous sensor nodes built on ESP-based boards that monitor critical environmental factors. We leveraged the LoRaWAN protocol for its low-power, long-range capabilities, allowing data to be transmitted efficiently from remote areas. This data is routed through The Things Network (TTN) and streamed via MQTT to a cloud platform.
